a fun announcement: some of my work will be appearing in the tenth edition of scene design and stage lighting, by r. craig wolf and dick block. it is one of the quintessential text books for theatrical education, and i am honored to be included. a photograph for my model of twelfth night as well as my sketches from hot l baltimore will be printed in full color! the book will be available on march 29, 2013, but you can preorder it now on amazon.

in a first-time collaborative experiment, cirque du soleil sponsored two uncsa student/alumni groups in the creation of original vignettes. everything from the music to choreography and from costumes to projections were created by students and alumni.

the story of “the paper crane” follows a young girl in search of her creative voice and individuality. on a rainy day, she finds a paper crane and decides to try and make her own. we follow her determination, frustration, and eventual joy in creating various origami shapes with humanized pieces of paper. through the choreography of the paper dancers, the original animated projection content and other visual elements, we get a glimpse into the imagination of the young girl.

hey everyone! i’ve gotta share some great news: i just received word that i was accepted into usitt’s young designers’ forum!! i’ll be showing my work at the usitt conference in long beach, ca at the end of march. a once-in-a-lifetime experience for sure! can’t wait. now i’ve got to decide which models to pack and ship across the country!
